The whole roll #45

Underpants with too many holes, failed self-portraits, thoughts about seasons, the bush, my grandma, another lost tooth, Blackbutt Reserve and a walk around Garden Suburb.

These photos were taken a little bit all over the place. In this nice little warm snap in Newcastle, NSW, we are enjoying the start of spring. I am surprised after having been away for many years just how comfortable winter in Newcastle actually is. It gets cold at night (and inside because our insulation in Australia is practically nonexistent) but a sunny day can easily reach the low twenties (Celsius) and it’s so much warmer and brighter than I remember. Such an obvious example of the way perspective changes your experience of things.

Swedish winter is so cold and so dark that what I’m living through now is basically paradise. And even now, in European summer, I spied 14 degrees and rain in Gothenburg on my little weather app. What I’m trying to say is that we’ve been enjoying the weather here, soaking it up and making the most of it before we move back to Gothenburg in just three and a half months(!?)!

This roll contains multitudes: the bush, grandma at lunch, a walk around the neighbourhood, a lost tooth, some underpants with too many holes and a failed attempt at using the timer function on the Zenit EM. Enjoy.

I found these interesting dried up leaves and thought they’d make a compelling image. But the background was wrong here.

This was a roll of Kentmere 400. I shot this on my dump shop Zenit EM with the Helios 44M 58mm f2.

The roll was developed by Les Porter in Newcastle and scanned by me using my Valoi scanning set up.
